Percodan Dosage

Percodan is a medication that consists of oxycodone and aspirin and is prescribed for the treatment of moderate to severe pain. Oxycodone is in a group of drugs called narcotic pain relievers. Aspirin is in a group of drugs called salicylates (sa-LIS-il-ates). It works by reducing substances in the body that cause pain, fever, and inflammation.

The dose of Percodan that your healthcare provider recommends will vary, depending on a number of factors, including:

  • Severity of the pain
  • Age
  • How responsive or sensitive you are to Percodan
  • Other medications you are taking
  • Other medical conditions you may have

Percodan tablets are taken orally and the usual dosage is one tablet every six hours as needed for pain. The maximum daily dose of aspirin should not exceed four grams or twelve tablets. A person should not adjust their dose without specific medical instruction to do so. When Percodan is no longer needed for pain relief, doses should be gradually lessened to prevent any withdrawal symptoms.
